Info Junkie

Welcome to Blogstalking! I realize there are other blogs with similar names, so if you have landed here by mistake, please feel free to stay a while. That, after all, is the point of blog stalking.

My name is Erin, and I am a blog stalker. Here is how this came to be:
I have always been an info junkie. I love to research anything and everything. When I have a question or any random thought, I always find some time (usually late at night-I really don't have much time on my hands) to get on the Internet and learn EVERYTHING about whatever it is that has peaked my curiosity. Is everything on the net fact? No, of course not. But a skilled info junkie can easily discern fact from opinion and junk, and also doesn't mind knowing all the opinions out there and forming their own conclusions.

About a year ago, I started a blog. The purpose of the blog (you are welcome to stalk it of course) was just to keep friends updated on our family, and serve as a sort of journal/photo album. Our son was brand new and accommodating every ones requests to email pictures was getting cumbersome. Also, I hate scrap booking. I like scrapbooks, and I like the idea of doing them, but it is just not for me. Believe me, I've tried...

I soon fell in love with Blogs. I am not the best blogger in the world. My humble little blog is certainly not the prettiest, and my posts are nowhere near as insightful, thought provoking, or humorous as most of the blogs I stalk. This is probably why my blog readers have disappeared. Yep, that's right. Not a soul on earth, not even my husband, reads my blog anymore:(. I am going to keep it going, just for the journal aspects and as a bit of a creative outlet.

While my blog was dying a slow death, I started to explore the blogs linked on some of my friends sites, and then some linked on those sites. These are complete stranger's blogs, but I have found some of the most interesting things there. It is so fascinating to take a glimpse into the lives, thoughts, and sometimes occupations of others. I have found so many intriguing things on the www. Blogs are really Disneyland for the info junkie. And now that it seems like everyone has a blog, you can get a personal take on just about everything.

So, what you will find on this blog, is basically links to great blogs, or more specifically, great posts, that I find. I will offer some comments on the post, and you can decide to read it or not. This will be a bit like hitting "random article" on Wikipedia (yep, as an info junkie, I do that) but much better because you will get something screened by me and not some two paragraph blurb about an insignificant politician in Poland.

Your Comment:
But Erin, you don't even know these people. Is it ethical to just post a link to their blog to the whole word?

My Answer:
I am so flattered that you think the whole world will be reading this!
I am comfortable doing this because blogs can be password protected and made private. When you create a public blog, you have to understand that the information you post there can be accessed by ANYONE. This includes employers, acquaintances, and complete strangers. I think that most bloggers understand this and are very smart about what they post and many in fact love new readers. Also, chances are very great that I linked to the blog I am stalking through another blog. When you allow your friends to publish your URL, you are inviting people you don't know to look.
I never comment on the blogs I stalk and a would NEVER harass a blogger. I stalk blogs because I love the post I am reading. If I don't, I stop reading it and don't return. If you are reading a blog I have recommended, I would encourage you to stay anonymous and don't comment on the actual blog mentioned. Leave your comments here instead. That's the point of being a stalker!

Your Comment:
You posted a link to my blog and I am not happy about it!

My Answer:
I apologize for any problems I have caused. Please see my comments above about public blogs. I mentioned your post because I really enjoyed it. I will not remove my post, but I will remove the link to yours and mention that you requested it be removed. I will also not mention your blog in the future.

Clear enough? Good! So please check back regularly for interesting links. I try to keep all the content here clean, so you will not see anything R rated on this site and the posts I link to will always be clean as well. I can't guarantee the entire content of other peoples blogs, so please read them at your own risk.

Happy Stalking!
